Tim Brown
My name is Tim Brown and I have lived in the Bradenton/Sarasota area for 38 years now. I love it here! I have experience with Mac, Windows computers and the iPhone. I have a love for computer graphics and working with photos. I enjoy teaching and showing people how to do things on computers very much.
I always have a great attitude and I make it very easy for you to understand what I am showing you.
If I don’t know the answer, I will investigate it until I find out what the answer is. I enjoy teaching any subject. Outside of computers, I also teach windsurfing. I look forward to helping you and answering any question you have no matter how big or small.
Larry Edison
Larry Edison has owned and used PC’s since 1982, when there were just two floppies and no hard-drives. With a smile he says that he jumped, “with great hesitation,” into the world of Apple three years ago. He’s never looked back. He reports, “I don’t know what took me so long to buy that first Mac, but now we have two at home, and I use a third at the office.” Based on his experience, he’s talked friends into switching to Mac and clearly has found a niche helping them setup and use their new computers. He has found the experience of taking Mac courses invaluable. On top of that, he continues to learn from the local Mac users group, and by devouring books on the subject.
He’s discovered what many have; that Apple computers are more than a tool for work. For him, they are a totally fun hobby – whether making home movies, customizing greeting cards, designing PowerPoint slides for work, loading his iPhone, or simply iChatting with his daughter who lives in St Louis.
Having been on staff at a local church for 30 years, Larry has extensive teaching and communication experience, and brings those skills into computer training. Working with people day in and day out, means you will find him to be easy to work with, very personable as well as professional.
Kent Morgan
In 1980 our first daughter and our first Apple computer arrived on the same day! I’ve had a passionate affection for all of my family and the Mac ever since. I’ve made extensive use of Final Cut Express, iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, Aperture, Photoshop Elements, iWeb and iChat for video and photo projects for our family and clients. iWeb has been a great tool to sell our homes and help condo associations share information. I’ve used Quicken extensively for over ten years to manage our family’s finances and analyze investments. Our home is filled with music as our Mac wirelessly routes songs from iTunes to all our rooms. We stay in touch with family and friends through photos and videos using iWeb, MobileMe, and iChat for videoconferences with our 3-year-old granddaughter, a thousand miles away! My background is in training and development in the pharmaceutical industry and as an adjunct professor with a local college. My passion and goal is to help people expand their knowledge, their skills and to enrich their personal environment through their mastery and use of the Apple computer. I enjoy teaching in a style that is relaxed, fun and engaging. My daughters call me iMorgan and my son-in-law calls me iUsedToBeRetired.
Mike Parshall
My name is Mike Parshall. I have been working with Macs since 1986. In fact, my first Mac was a Mac Plus with a whopping 4 MB of RAM and a 40 MB external hard drive running at 8Mhz. I have been teaching for over 20 years and I am an Apple Certified Support Professional certified in Mac OS 10.5. I am also a professional entertainer having performed with many people who are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
I love everything Mac and have been using all the applications starting with HyperCard, MacPaint, MacDraw etc. I love all the iLife applications as they play an important part in my life. For the past 20+ years I have made my entire living using Macs. I am using Microsoft Office 2008 right now to type this bio and it just flagged iLife for spelling! Fixed.
Whether you just need to get up to speed or you want to get under the hood I can show you how and keep it fun. (That’s the easy part with Macs). With a little kick start you’ll see that it’s easier than you think to turn your creative ambitions into reality.
Tom Tiedt
Tom Tiedt has been involved with computers since the 1970s, during which as a neuroscientist helped pioneer the use of computers in medical research, contributing significantly to earning his Ph.D. in 1976. In 1984, Tom purchased his first personal computer, an Apple IIc and in 1992 purchased a Mac to run Adobe Illustrator 3.0 to bring advertising in house for his direct marketing client. In 1997, he added Microsoft software support, web design and computer system design/build/service to his offerings. Tom is an Apple Certified Pro, Adobe Certified Expert and Microsoft Certified Professional. Much of Tom’s professional career involved pharmaceutical development (most notably, Tom created the research program for the use of aspirin to prevent and treat stroke, heart attack and cancer). For excitement, Tom holds Airplane Transport, Single/Multi-engine, Advanced Instrument Ground Instructor, Repairman and Class D Skydiver ratings, and even a Japanese pilot license. He has logged over 10,000 flight hours and has given over 5,000 hours of instruction in advanced aerobatics, including to several celebrities. Tom is also a USA Swimming official and Masters competition/fitness swimmer, swimming freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke about 2 miles a day. He remains active in public health policy, environmental protection and, of course, computers. Tom has much to draw upon to further your Mac experience and productivity and to assist those transitioning to the Mac and Mac OS X and exploring various professional applications.
