With iOS 10 running on an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7, or 7 Plus, it can do just that. If you have one of those iPhones, notice how the screen wakes up on its own when you lift it up. By default, Raise to Wake is enabled on these devices, but if you dislike this feature for some reason, you can turn it off in Settings &gt; Display &amp; Brightness. Older iPhones can\u2019t wake up automatically like this, presumably because they lack the necessary hardware.
