What about the hands-free \u201cHey, Siri\u201d technique that we\u2019ve become accustomed to on the iPhone and Apple Watch? Strangely, Apple didn\u2019t build \u201cHey, Siri\u201d into Sierra, perhaps to sidestep privacy concerns that your Mac would constantly be listening to everything around it (not true, regardless). Never fear, though, because there\u2019s a way you can bring \u201cHey, Siri\u201d to the Mac as well. If you have an iPhone or Apple Watch that might respond to \u201cHey, Siri\u201d commands directed at your Mac, you can use a different voice trigger, like \u201cYo, Siri\u201d or a different name, like \u201cHey, Mac.\u201d Follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to System Preferences &gt; Keyboard &gt; Dictation. --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 593\/359;\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Back in the Dictation Commands dialog, click Done and close System Preferences.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now give it a try by saying \u201cHey, Siri\u201d (or whatever you used for your trigger and name) and then asking a question like \u201cWhat\u2019s the weather forecast for tomorrow?\u201d This trick works best if you pause after saying \u201cHey, Siri\u201d and wait for Siri to beep encouragingly. If your question follows the \u201cHey, Siri\u201d prompt too quickly, Siri tends to miss what you\u2019ve said.<\/p>\n<p>Siri is far from perfect, but it\u2019s still pretty astonishing what we can now do with voice commands.
